Journey or Journal?

This blog began as a journey to update a marketing journal... uploaded so that other can take some ideas from it, but slowly I realized, Life to be much more than a job, a MBA and so on! small things can end up being huge events! Small events can give huge learnings!

Problems with YAMAHA R15

Everybody seems to be going ga ga over the R15, heck even I am. I promised some stuff that I didnt like about the R15, so here they are
Problem Number 1: 1) False Neutrals (I guess/hope/trust will get corrected in the service)
First saw it at the showroom itself when I knew the bike was in gear but it displayed as Neutral.
Then again with some one else on the vehicle wanting to check the feel of it, pressed the ignition button, but it didn't start up.... Me and Kunal from xBHP were smiling, we knew what the problem was! The Bike was on first gear but was displaying Neutral!

2) No ability/availability to install crash bobbins
Common Yamaha, what were you thinking!!! We are a bunch of cheapskaters....! We do everything to safeguard a bike from falling.... we even add a 2 Ruppee Nimbu Mirchi on your so called state of the art machinery!
The Bike apparently doesn't have an option to install any crash bobbins, neither does YAMAHA give them to you... I guess the only option is to allow your neighborhood hardware store or the wielder to make one for you and drill a hole on its frame... (not sure if it would work as well!)

3) No availability of paddock stands!
As you might know by now, the bike has just a side stand.... although the chassis does have a provision to install a center stand, its not been tried out yet.... one of the fellow xBHPians (saudjawed) from Chennai was planning for this mod... but has not done it yet!

The provision for the Center Stand

4) Slack in throttle response in lower RPMS
I know this may not really be an issue but the way Yamaha has designed the power band but what the heck the bike feels under powered in the 'launch' phase.... but then again thats how most small sports bike work.... Mr Tripathi did say that the customized ECU and power mods will follow early next year!!

5) Speedo Error:
This exists in almost all bikes, and there is a commercial and practical reason to it so I dont really mind it, but then again some people have reported obscene amount of error in the speedo (More than 10-15%)

I will be updating this list time and again when I get feedback from the owners of the bike!
Apart from this there are reports of some other minor niggles like the fairing vibrating and the rear brake not being designed for comfort... I guess these are more of personal issues with the bike ;)
